In 2022, Ironhorse Construction embarked on a transformative journey with the 256 Lambton Quay - Quest Hotel project, marking a significant milestone in our portfolio. This project is a testament to our unwavering commitment to creating spaces that seamlessly combine elegance and comfort.


Stage 1 of the redevelopment works focused on the refurbishment and upgrade of the building's exterior envelope. This included retrofitting double glazing into the existing window suite, along with the installation of an insulated ‘warm roof’ membrane system over the existing metal roof. As a vital initial step, we also meticulously demolished the existing six-story office fit-out, building services, and lifts, clearing the way for the remarkable transformation to come. This all while the lower floor retail tenancies remained open, ensuring no disruption to their business operations.


Stage 2 ushered in a new era for the building, with the conversion of the office tower into a 68-unit service apartment hotel. This was a challenging process, given the existing structure and dimensions. However the architect and our team approached the architectural design with care and precision, ensuring it met the client’s high standards within the framework of the building's unique requirements. Our dedicated team meticulously coordinated building services to fit within existing space constraints. Through a collaborative design-build approach, we were able to adapt to site conditions, minimizing extra costs and rework.



One of the project's unique challenges was limited site access via Lambton Quay. In response, our team devised an innovative approach to material transportation by constructing a scaffold bridge, linking 256 Lambton Quay and 133 The Terrace car park, demonstrating our adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.

The 256 Lambton Quay - Quest Hotel project is a prime example of our expertise in managing complex and multifaceted projects. It's a testament to our dedication to creating spaces that offer a seamless transition between the old and new, all within an operational environment. This represents a $9 million investment in delivering a space that exudes elegance and comfort.
